In a significant move to provide practical legal experience and community support, a team of volunteers and interns from Projects Abroad with the Legal Aid Commission visited the Kotobabi District Court in Accra. Projects Abroad, known for its dedication to placing interns and volunteers in various fields, aims to empower marginalized individuals and communities through legal assistance and human rights education.
The group, led by Dr. Francis Adjei Osei Esq. and representing Senior Counsel Jeffrey Abbey Adamson Esq., a Public Defender with the Legal Aid Commission, attended the court proceedings for the case of Mr. Eric Denutsui vs. the Registered Trustees of Holy Ghost.
The interns experienced firsthand the intricacies of the judicial process in a developing country, gaining invaluable insights and practical knowledge. They had the unique opportunity to observe courtroom dynamics and the application of legal principles in real-time, enriching their understanding and skills in the legal field.
ProjectsAbroad’s initiative is part of a broader mandate to provide critical help to local communities, engage in outreach work, and conduct educational campaigns. By working at legal aid office, interns and volunteers not only contribute to the community but also develop a deeper appreciation of the legal challenges and opportunities in Ghana.
The day concluded with a memorable moment as the interns, court staff, Dr. Francis Adjei Osei Esq, and Her Ladyship, Maame Yaa Amoakoa Kusi Mensah, gathered for a group photo, marking the successful and enriching experience.
ProjectsAbroad continues to play an important role in bridging the gap in legal support for human rights disputes, offering assistance to individuals who typically lack access to legal services. Their partnership with the Legal Aid Commission exemplifies their commitment to fostering legal education and community empowerment.
